Social Support for Seniors
Group costs are kept to a minimum and venues selected have a reasonably priced or seniors menu available. Transport is door to door, for which a contribution of $5.50* is requested to assist with reimbursement of volunteer's travel costs. Costs do vary from group to group and we will inform you of likely costs prior to group outings. * Please speak with the Social Support Program Manager if ongoing group costs would cause you financial difficulty. Doncare's Social Support Program is part of the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services. Visit the Department of Social Services website (www.dss.gov.au) for more information. This program is also supported by the Victorian Government.

Maybe. Our Social Support Program provides a range of community based social and recreational opportunities for socially isolated older people who live in the City of Manningham. Groups typically visit local venues - hotels, RSLs, cafes and parks. There is also a craft group and a walking group. Volunteers support the participants during the outings and can provide transport from and to homes.
Please call us on 9856 1500 and speak to our Social Support Co-ordinator. Your mother's situation will be assessed, taking her needs and interests into consideration, we may be able to offer her a place in one of our social groups. Sometimes, there is a short wait for a place.
Of course; several participants of our groups include people who use walkers. Of course, some activities, such as the walking group, would not be suitable for your friend. Please call our Social Support Co-ordinator on 9856 1500 to find out more.
