Volunteer in Social Support

Volunteers are central to the provision of Doncare’s Social Support program.

As a volunteer for a typical social activity, you would pick up between 1 and 3 participants from their homes, transport them to the venue, enjoy the activity with them, ensuring they are included in conversation, and then drive them home afterward. This allows a door-to-door social experience for participants, many of whom are well over 80 years old and all of whom find it difficult to get out and socialise.

May we encourage you to peruse the selection of activity groups to see which best appeals to you.  Your commitment may be large or small; you have the option of using your own vehicle or a Doncare vehicle (depending on availability).

Volunteers receive training through a ‘buddy’ system when they commence and access to regular training courses for which expenses can be reimbursed.  You will get to meet some amazing people – both participants and fellow volunteers. Apply online now.

All prospective volunteers are individually interviewed prior to program involvement and must undergo a police check, which will be arranged and paid for by Doncare.
