Volunteer as a Community Visitor | Doncare

Volunteer in ACVVS

Volunteering as a Volunteer Visitor can be a rewarding experience.

Doncare recruits volunteer visitors who enjoy the company of older people, who are wanting to spend time with someone visiting at least once a fortnight (preferably weekly), are excellent communicators and know this experience will enrich their lives. Volunteer Visitors are police checked, and provided with ongoing training and support.

By becoming friends with an older person, you can make a positive difference in their lives as well as your own.

If you have the following skills, we would love to hear from you.

  • A commitment to building and sustaining a friendship with an older isolated person over an extended period of time
  • Able to commit a minimum of one visit a fortnight (weekly preferred)  for at least 12 months
  • Genuine empathy, understanding, and enjoyment of older people
  • Effective communication and listening skills
  • Reliable and flexible
