The wait time varies depending on your availability, preferences, and needs.
Sometimes appointments are available straight away, while at other times you may need to wait a few weeks. Factors such as your preferred day or time, counsellor gender, and the type of support you’re seeking can affect how quickly we can book you in. Our Intake Team will talk through current availability and find the earliest suitable appointment for you.
Counselling may involve a few sessions or many sessions. This is something for you and your counsellor to decide once you have both had the opportunity to clarify the issues you would like to address. Call us on 9856 1500 and ask to speak to our Counselling Co-ordinator to find out more.
Doncare’s trained counsellors provide a confidential and impartial service free from the constraints of friendships and family relationships. Our counsellors are qualified professionals, qualified volunteers and Provisional Psychologists and Masters of Counselling students who are working towards full registration. Extensive professional training, supervision, and support go on behind the scenes to ensure that the counselling our clients receive is professional, effective and of the highest quality.
Yes, Doncare has qualified counsellors who specialise in supporting children aged 6 - 17 years.

Definitely. Doncare's Counselling Program is a confidential service that includes appropriate professional consultation between the counsellors and experienced Counselling Supervisors. However, Doncare does have ethical responsibilities and serves the right to report serious risk situations to appropriate authorities. Please call us on 9856 1500 and ask to speak to our Counselling Co-ordinator if you have any concerns about the confidentially of counselling at Doncare.
Doncare's Counselling Program charges minimal fees, based on a client's level of income. Fees can be reduced or waived for clients experiencing financial difficulty. Please call us on 9856 1500 and ask to speak to our Counselling Co-ordinator if you are unable to pay for counselling sessions.
