New Wheels to Keep Seniors Connected
NewsBendigo Bank’s Generosity Delivers Big Impact for Doncare’s Seniors Program
We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to Doncare’s fleet — a brand-new 11-seater Hyundai Staria, generously funded by Bendigo Bank’s Community Bank Doncaster East and Templestowe Village branches.
In a heartwarming handover, Chris Cahir, Branch Manager of the Templestowe Village branch, presented the keys to Doncare Chief Executive Officer, Kylie Scoullar, marking another milestone in the longstanding partnership between Bendigo Bank and Doncare.
This vehicle will significantly boost our Social Support for Seniors program, allowing us to offer more group outings and recreational activities such as:
-
Lunch groups
-
Friendship circles
-
Walking clubs
-
Movie sessions
These social gatherings play a vital role in reducing isolation and loneliness among older residents of Manningham — fostering friendships, improving mental wellbeing, and encouraging community participation.
“The new van will greatly enhance the experience for our participants and relieve our incredible volunteers, many of whom have been using their own vehicles to transport clients. It’s a real game changer,” said Kylie Scoullar.
Bendigo Bank’s support ensures we can continue delivering inclusive, accessible programs that connect people, reduce social isolation and improve quality of life for seniors in our community.
We extend our deepest thanks to Chris Cahir and the entire Bendigo Bank team for helping us go the extra mile — quite literally — in supporting those who need us most.
