Sadly, Doncare has made the decision to cancel the Empowered Women, Empowering Women 2021 charity dinner featuring Jane Caro AM and Jo Stanley.

The state of affairs in both NSW and Victoria due to the COVID pandemic does not afford us the opportunity to fly Jane Caro down to Melbourne and the Victorian government's announcement yesterday to extend the current lockdown places too much uncertainty around rescheduling the event this side of Christmas.

As a not-for-profit community services organisation, the COVID pandemic has had an enormous effect on Doncare’s people, our financial sustainability, the services we offer, and the community we strive to support. The revenue from Empowered Women was critical to achieving our fundraising targets which support Doncare to assist people experiencing significant economic and social disadvantage in the community and women and children recovering from the impacts of family violence. Doncare provides recreational activities to socially isolated seniors; counselling; family violence recovery services; family services; case management and emergency relief.

Doncare is planning to host an event for International Women's Day next March. Let's hope that 2022 provides us with an opportunity to get empowered.
