Hearing-Impaired Social Support Group
Additional Information
The gift of hearing, deeply woven into our health and the fabric of daily life, holds a profound influence over our education, employment, and overall happiness. The ripple effects of hearing loss are vast and impactful. Among those touched by this issue, a significant number are individuals over the age of 60. By 2060, it's projected that as many as 7.8 million people could be navigating life with at least mild hearing loss, a number largely driven by an ageing population. As we grow older, many of us face a gradual and inevitable decline in our hearing, making hearing loss a widespread health concern closely tied to ageing.
Living with hearing impairment is a challenging journey, often leading to social isolation, loneliness, and mental health concerns like depression and anxiety. Providing the warmth of social interactions is vital for both mental and physical health. Beyond the communication challenges, it's well-documented that hearing loss can impact one's cognitive health and daily routines, influencing every aspect of life.
