Standing with Love and Against Hate
NewsIn recognition of the enormous devastation on Bondi Beach in Sydney, and in acknowledgement of the day of mourning and reflection, Doncare affirms that we stand with love, with celebration of our wonderful diversity, with the rights of all people to gather and practice their faith and culture, in community and in public, and to do so safely.
Our hearts are with the Jewish people in Australia, with Community Leaders and Rabbis working endlessly to support their community and comfort the families and loved ones of those who died.
We stand against hate, anti-Semitism, racism, Islamophobia, extremism and hatred. At all times and particularly now.
We are conscious of those who courageously risked their lives to protect others, those ordinary people who helped out in the immediate aftermath, first responders who raced in to assist, and of people all around the nation who have participated in community events and vigils, who have lit candles to show their support, and who have spoken up. They have all shown that we are bigger than this, that compassion and community have not been diminished. We can be loving and compassionate as a nation. We will not let hate, terror or division win. Let light and peace and love prevail.
Doncare is here to provide support and care to whoever needs it at this time and into the future. While we are closed from 12pm Wed 24th, we re-open on Monday 5 January, and stand ready to support in whatever way we can. Please, do not hesitate to contact us.
