Stay Connected, Active & Supported
Doncare’s Social Support Groups help older people living independently remain socially connected, active and engaged within their community. Designed for seniors who may be experiencing, or at risk of, social isolation or loneliness, the program offers meaningful social connection, group activities and supportive transport in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Getting There Safely and Comfortably
Door-to-door transport is available to help participants attend activities safely and comfortably, with support provided by Doncare’s caring volunteers and staff from pick-up through to return home.
Costs & Contribtions
We aim to keep our programs accessible, with clear and upfront costs for all activities. Lunch venues are carefully selected, offering reasonably priced options and seniors menus wherever possible.
Affordable and Transparent Pricing
A small participant contribution helps keep activities affordable and accessible, with lunch, movie and walking groups costing $8.00 and minibus outings $12.00
For participants receiving Commonwealth Support at Home funding, Doncare will invoice the service provider $90.00 per activity. Private arrangements are also available at $90.00 per activity. Some activity costs may vary depending on the outing, and any additional costs will always be communicated in advance. If you are experiencing financial difficulty, please speak with the Social Support Program Team Leader on 9856 1500. We are committed to supporting access wherever possible.

Accessing Social Support: Referrals and Funding
Doncare’s Social Support Groups are subsidised by the Australian Government through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP).
