Building Safer Futures for Seniors Through Education and Mentoring

Doncare is delighted to have been awarded $200,000 in funding over four years through a Manningham Council Community Partnership Grant to deliver our Champions for Seniors elder abuse program! 

This significant investment will strengthen our work with the community, create new opportunities, and make a positive difference for older people across Manningham.

Funded for 2026-2030, Champions for Seniors will respond to, raise awareness of and reduce the harm caused by elder abuse in Manningham through community education forums and an innovative volunteer mentoring program. 

Biannual community education forums will increase awareness of elder abuse and knowledge of support pathways, while our mentoring service will provide one on one support for people experiencing or at risk of abuse. Through the program, we will help older Manningham residents access legal, social and health services to enhance safety, wellbeing, connection and quality of life.
