Position Statement

Volunteer with Doncare to provide a range of community support services, including practical assistance and community information, to assist individuals and families living in Manningham who are experiencing hardship.

Responsibilities

  • Interview people who need assistance with a range of issues.
  • Provide practical assistance to people needing assistance, including food parcels, vouchers or bills (depending on funding availability)
  • Record keeping
  • Attending ongoing training sessions
  • Assist with sorting, storing, or packing donations to the food pantry

Key Selection Criteria

Experience:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively foster relationships with colleagues, clients and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experiences of working in environments where a high degree of judgement, confidentiality and sensitivity is required.
  • Proven ability to work in a team with an understanding and commitment to teamwork and an ability to work with a diverse range of people. 
  • Manual handling (Training will be provided)

Qualifications:

  • Community Support Worker Training: Delivered by CISVic online over seven weeks, including 2-hour weekly training sessions (Training will be provided)

Conditions of Employment

Your offer of appointment at Doncare is subject to:

  • a three-month probationary period
  • satisfactory criminal history (Police) check; to be renewed every three years
  • A Working with Children Check prior to commencement.  Doncare has a legal and moral responsibility to ensure the safety of all children in accordance with the Child Safe Standards and expects all staff and volunteers to commit to this standard and understand their duty of care obligations.
  • Qualifications and credentials completed and verified
  • Preferred candidates with be required to provide two referees which includes their current or most recent Manager
  • Ensure compliance with the OH&S Act and Doncare's policies
  • Contribute positively and proactively to team and organisation wide OH&S activities.
  • ensure compliance with legislation, contract, and policy requirements in your work to meet organisational audit, contract and registration obligations
  • proactively apply your specialist knowledge in the review and maintenance of policies systems, and processes
